Share three things you are thankful for
Let's have a debate: What is the best time of the day for assignments to be due in an online classroom? Why? You can do this for any topic you like.
Post a photo:
of an animal that is impacted by pollution. Write two sentences from the animal’s point of view.
of a place you would like to visit someday. Write two sentences explaining what is special about this place
of something happening. Write a sentence in past tense and use both simple past tense and past continuous tense
Find as many words as you can in the word, celebration (consider finding a word that pertains to your topic if you can)
Playing music helps create a relaxing environment. Create playlist yourself or have student play theirs. You can also decided if it is a gem or not a gem.
Great Tools for Welcoming Activities
Use a Google form that is locked down to CSSD and can only be filled out once - Before every meeting, all you need to do is go to the responses tab, select the three dots and click on Delete all responses. Here is a template for you to use.
Use the Q&A in Google slides to have the students type in their name at the start of class. Check out this short video to learn how.
This is meant to be played live, if you want to add it to videos, please visit each site to learn about their use policies.
You should always use an attribute
ie. add this to your site/doc/slide deck or chatMusic from Bensound.com
Bensound (no account needed, cannot make playlist, but can download)
Tribe of Noise PRO (Account needed to make playlist)
Audiofix (cannot make playlist, but can download)
Question Wall
By allowing students to post questions anonymously they are more likely to ask. Requesting students to sign their response for credit can also promote students responding instead of it always being the teacher.
Padlet is a great place to build a question wall since you can use approve a post, which is a great way to monitor the questions and responses.
