Performance Empowerment
Triple threat and choreographer, Kayla MacKenzie (she/her) is a passionate leader striving to align her students with an empowered self connection; strong enough to deliver a clear story and conversation while in performance. She instructs from a foundation of mental health to strengthen confidence while conditioning athleticism, expression and musicality awareness. Kayla has trained at Decidedly Jazz Danceworks in the professional training program, at Broadway Dreams under the direction of Tyler Hanes and Viktor Jackson and holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Calgary. In 2024, Kayla won a Broadway World Award for her Choreography on NEWSIES at Storybook Theatre (Calgary, AB). She has studied Acting, Voice, Jazz, West African, Afro-Cuban, Hip Hop, Modern, Contemporary, Latin, Tap, Heels, Soca and Musical Theatre Dance. You can expect to be challenged, sweat and have fun in Kayla’s class. She will welcome you into the room no matter your experience and enlighten your cultural, musical and self awareness.
