Since coming to Carroll Choir became my favorite place to be and my reason to wake up. In Junior High I always struggled with fitting in and being accepted. That first day of chamber choir was terrifying there were only three other grade tens at the time and I had no idea who they were. I was scared to even walk in the door but I am so thankful that I did because the minute I did Lauren walked up to me and was like hey. Everyone in choir is so accepting and open to talk. I think the true goal and meaning of singing choral music is the connections you make and sharing what you love to do with others who love it just as much. Choir creates a community and I am so happy that I got to be a part of it even if our performances are canceled due to Covid.
-Amber, Grade 10
Through singing in a choir, each individual experiences what it is like to create a full sound as a part of a larger picture. We all gain deeper connections through a shared interest and passion to make music. I love being able to leave rehearsal knowing I have a space to express myself and go on a journey with so many incredible individuals.
-Emily, Grade 10
Saying that there is only one goal of choral music is to say there is only one goal in life. I find choral music especially intimate and special as each chorister is singing with their own unique, God-given voice.
-Joseph, Grade 12
Music is such a powerful and beautiful thing, and to have the opportunity to grow and learn with other people who share a love of music, is truly something special. The Choral music program is something that brings people together to create a family.
-Katrina, Grade 10
I believe choral singing is about more about the journey than the destination because it's about developing our skills as individual and collective singers.
-Ysabel, Grade 11
