Run in conjunction with our Drama department, students must be enrolled in both drama and choir, or have special permission of both the Drama Teacher and Choir Teacher to participate in the musical. Auditions will be held in early September.
Our two Vocal Jazz ensembles provide a unique and dynamic small ensemble setting where students develop vocal skills, microphone techniques and broaden their musical experience. These groups sing a variety of music, including jazz, pop and a cappella works. No previous ensemble experience required.
We have TWO mixed voice Vocal Jazz ensembles at Bishop Carroll
NOTE: The vocal jazz course has a co-curricular requirement with Choral Music 10/20/30 courses. To sing in these ensembles students must also register & sing in a concert ensemble (Cardinal Singers, Treble Choir or Chamber Choir).
Our Music Department historically travels each spring. Details are shared with families once they are confirmed.
The 2026 Bishop Carroll Tour will be announced soon... we are hoping to travel within Canada, to participate in collaboration, sharing and hopefully compete in a music festival.
Past trip destinations have included: China, Italy, New York City, Orlando, Vancouver/Whistler, Los Angeles, and more.
Music Tour 2025: Orlando
Music Tour 2024: Ottawa & Montreal
Music Tour 2023: Vancouver & Whistler
Students are welcome to create their own small ensembles.
In past years, student lead ensembles have performed at Mental Health Awareness Events, on live radio and as part of various school activities including pep rallies. Teacher coaching and advising is available to students, and they are able to access the many rehearsal spaces at BCHS to run their own vocal groups.
