English as a Second Language (ESL) Classes

English Language Learners are those students who have a first language other than English, and require support with English language development.

The English as a Second Language (ESL) courses are comprised of both a language and culture component. Generally speaking, these courses are designed for foreign-born students who are continuing to work on their language development and understanding of Canadian culture. Canadian-born students whose educational experiences have been primarily in a language other than English may also be enrolled in ESL courses.

Students may or may not progress through one English proficiency level per semester. Students may require more than one semester to complete an ESL course.
