Exploratory also known as an Elective Class, is a course that allows students to explore other subject areas geared toward future career exploration. Students may have 2 different Exploratory classes (Elective) one each semester. Examples might include art, computers, intro to Spanish, Epic Wellness Teacher's Assistant/Office Practice Assistant. The Exploratory class does assign homework and you will receive a grade for this course.
Students can apply for a Yearlong Careers Class ( description and applications below).

Semester Long Elective Exploratory Classes
Randomly Chosen each semester for all grades*
Students will receive 2 of the following (requests are not possible)
Art
Computers
Epic Wellness
Music Appreciation
Office Practice Assistants/ Teacher Assistants (need to be renaissance qualified)
This option is only available if you choose the semester-long Exploratory (Elective class)
Only an optional course for a semester-long class for 8th graders only.
Office Practice or Teachers Aide can be a first or second choice but is not a guaranteed position.
You must be Renaissance qualified at the end of Semester 1 of your 7th-grade year
Decisions will not be made until schedules are distributed
Office Practice Aides- students who work in the counseling office counselors instead of one semester of an “Exploratory Class;”
Teacher Aides - students that work in a classroom, on campus for a teacher at our school in place of one semester of an “ Exploratory class;”
Year-Long Exploratory Classes
Beginning Band: Exploratory class offered during the school day for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders.

This is a class that teaches students to play one of the following instruments:
flute
clarinet
alto clarinet
bass clarinet
alto saxophone
tenor saxophone
bari-saxophone
trumpet
french horn
trombone
baritone horn
tuba
percussion
There is only a limited supply of each instrument for students to use at school.
Sometimes a student has to rent or supply their instrument.

Chorus: Exploratory class offered before school for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. The before-school section, also known as a "0" Period is from 7:55- 8:40 daily.
