Holly Lyons is in her 17th year as the Legacies Dance Team director. Holly is a charter faculty member of Vandegrift High School and has loved creating the dance department within the Four Points community. She leads the Viper Dance Department and is the Department Head for VHS Performing Arts.
Before joining the Vandegrift family, she owned The Element: New Braunfels Dance Center for two years, was the head director of the Canyon High School Aristocat Dance Team for three years, and taught for one year at 5678 Dance in San Antonio, making this her 21st year as a dance educator.
Holly is a former member of the World Famous Kilgore College Rangerettes and served as a Lieutenant her sophomore year. She is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Dance and Kinesiology, and was a member of the SFA Pom Squad and SFA Repertory Dance Company. She has instructed for American Dance/Drill Team for 20 years and has served in both leadership and executive roles. Holly is a 21-year member of the Texas Dance Educators' Association, served on the Executive Board for 5 years, and is a TDEA Past President. In 2019, she was honored to be recognized as the TDEA Director of the Year.
Throughout her 20+ years of dance training, Holly has performed in the Texas State Fair with Willie Nelson, Cotton Bowl Halftime Performances & Parades, televised Thanksgiving Day Parades, Dallas Cowboys Halftime Performances, Houston Rockets Halftime Performances, Texas Governor George W. Bush's Inaugural Parade and Gala, World Cup Soccer Opening Ceremonies, Euro Disney in Paris, France, and Carnival in Nice, France. She has assisted with the MMA & Spirit of America All Star Dance Team Performances in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, Coast 2 Coast All Star Dance Team Performance in the McDonald’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in Chicago, and was featured in an article regarding leadership with dance teams in the November 2003 issue of the nationally circulated Dance Spirit Magazine.
Holly’s dance teams have performed halftime for the San Antonio Spurs, opening for the Radio City Music Hall Rockettes Christmas Spectacular in Bass Hall, 4A, 5A & 6A UIL State Marching Band Contest Finals, halftime for the Semi-Final UIL 5A Football playoff game in the Alamodome, Spirit of America All Star Dance Team Performances in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, Coast 2 Coast All Star Dance Team Performance in the McDonald’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in Chicago, and Arts Education Day at the Texas State Capital. The Legacies and Vision Dance Co. traveled to Hawaii with the Viper Band & Viper Choir and performed alongside the USS Missouri at the Pearl Harbor Memorial, and at the Howdy Modi event for Prime Minister Modi of India and Former President Trump. Most recently, the Legacies' senior class performed in Austin, TX at CEO and Philanthropist, Kendra Scott's home during her Christmas Event.
Holly and her husband, John, enjoy living in Austin and raising their wonderful children, Jackson, Abi, and Will.

Alexa graduated from Longview High School, where she served as Captain of the Viewettes. After High School, she became a member of the World Famous Kilgore College Rangerettes where she served as a Lieutenant on the 77th Line. During her time at KC she had the opportunity to perform in New York, Hawaii and Basel, Switzerland. After graduating from Kilgore, she attended Texas A&M University and was a member of the TAMU dance department. She graduated in May of 2020 with a degree in University Studies with a Concentration in Dance and a minor in Psychology and Leadership. She is currently a staff member of Encore Creative Productions, Spirit of America Productions and on the Cotton Bowl Pageantry Staff at AT&T Stadium. Previously, she served as the Head Dance Director at Four Points Middle School for three years and has truly loved her experience working with the students in this community. Alexa is so honored and excited to get to work with the talented Vandegrift High School Legacies and help grow the VHS Dance Department!

Katie Hopkins is a modern dancer, teacher, and choreographer who currently resides in Austin, TX. Specializing in movement, Katie has worked with many marching band and color guard programs around the country. Since moving to Texas in 2016, she has served as a choreographer and instructor for Claudia Taylor Johnson High School, Cedar Ridge High School, Westlake High School, and more. She is currently on staff with the 2018 DCI World Champion Santa Clara Vanguard where she choreographs and is responsible for the color guard movement program. Katie’s drum corps career began in 2006 when she was a member of the Cadets color guard for four years. She then went on to teach and choreograph for the Cadets from 2010 to 2017.
Originally from Arlington Heights, Illinois, Katie received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance from Columbia College Chicago with a concentration in teaching and performance, and a minor in Arts, Entertainment and Media Management. She has been an artist with multimedia dance company, ARCOS (Austin, TX) since its founding in 2011, touring extensively in the US and UK, and assisting the directors on choreographic commissions and teaching professional classes.
