Dance 1
Mrs. Holly Lyons
This is an introductory dance class of the following genres – ballet, jazz, hip hop, modern/lyrical, performance, and choreography. In each unit, the students learn history, influence on/impact of pop culture, technique, terminology, and movement. We have unit tests & skills tests with many units as well. Skills tests are graded for effort, memory, technique & performance. Dance classes perform in the spring show, Vanguard, on campus in April.
*there is a wide range of levels/abilities in this class. We tailor/modify technique combinations & dance combinations to accommodate every level of dancer in the class.
CLASS REQUIREMENTS:
Fall Semester
1. Make sure you are signed up for Dance 1 - Principals of Dance Google Classroom.
2. Dress out every day for class. Dancers should wear the all black dancewear outlined in the syllabus. You will need tennis shoes and jazz shoes/pirouettes.
3. Participate to your highest ability & work hard to be the best you can be!
