What does it mean to "just do good theatre"?

While our program counts in its ranks some of the most talented kids in central Texas, regularly produces several wonderful productions each year, and attempts to challenge the idea of what "high school theatre" could be, we are not interested in trying to be the very best high school theatre program in the entire world. It might be cool, but it also sounds like an insane amount of pressure and an impossible, and very expensive, uphill task.

Rather than chasing perfection, we focus on producing "good" theatre: theatre we can be proud of. For each production, each project, each scene, we ask ourselves and our students if it is something to be proud of.

If the answer is "yes", then we can be assured we are doing good theatre: no critique, award, or commentary can take that sense of pride from us.

If the answer is "no", then we need to course-correct, pull ourselves up by our bootstraps, and work it until we reach our goal.
