Parent/Guardian Consent for Counseling and Classroom Guidance Lessons
Per SB 12, parents must give permission for their student(s) to participate in:
Classroom guidance lessons provided by the school counselor, and/or
Second Step lessons are provided by the classroom teacher.
Please complete the Consent Form for School Counseling Services for your student(s).
Throughout the school year, School Counselors meet with classes to provide lessons that support students’ academic, career, and personal/social growth. Lessons may include reading stories, group discussions, art or writing activities, and games. In addition to classroom guidance lessons, the School Counselor may also meet with students individually or in small groups, as needed.
Topics of Classroom Guidance Lessons include:
Character Education (Respect, Responsibility, Self-Esteem)
Mindset and Resilience
Friendship Skills and Conflict Resolution
Mindfulness and Coping Skills
Career and Academic Exploration
