The Clothes Closet is operated by friendly, helpful LISD PTA volunteers. The purpose of the Clothes Closet is to provide gently worn, clean, school clothing as well as brand new underwear and socks, to students in need ages 4 through 18 or pre-K through high school. The only qualification for families to shop at the Clothes Closet is that their student attends an LISD school. Each family needs to obtain one voucher per child from the school nurse.
The PTA Clothes Closet is located in a portable building near 300 S. West Drive in Leander, TX 78641 across from the LISD Technology Center, just north of Leander Middle School.
During the school year, hours of operation are Tuesdays from 10:00 a.m. to noon, and one Saturday each month from 10:00 a.m. to noon. The Clothes Closet is closed on school holidays, and bad weather days, including late start days.
Since food and nutrition are so closely linked with the ability to learn, we want to make sure students have food over the weekend, so they are ready for the next week of learning. The Leander ISD Backpack Program was created for this purpose. This Backpack Program provides participating students with a backpack of food each Friday afternoon. Backpacks are discretely dropped off with students at the end of the day and returned the following week to be filled with more food. There is no cost to the participant’s family for the food. If you are interested in having your child participate in this program please email rachel.hunt@leanderisd.org .
