Silver Stars Grading Policy

Members will be graded on the following criteria:

40% Weekly Participation Grade

15% Accountability (Demerits / Grade Checks)

20% Performance Tests

25% Performance Completion

Participation:

Weekly participation grades will be based on attendance, dressing out in proper attire, and giving full effort during class time. Deductions will occur for violations of the above mentioned criteria. Participation grades cannot be earned if a member is not present for class. Notifications directly to the director through email or written notes must be received in order to be exempted from the daily participation grade.


Grade Checks:

Each member is required to have a weekly grade check complete upon arrival to class every Monday. Unsatisfactory grades are required to be corrected by Friday of each week. It is the member's responsibility to track progress and get teacher signatures as evidence of their progress. Consequences will be issued for not following through on academic responsibilities.


Demerits:

Each member will receive a demerit grade of 100 for the six weeks based on having a current demerit count of a zero. Demerits are ongoing and do not reset each six weeks.

Deductions for demerits will be issued as followed:

0 demerits = 100 6 demerits = 70 12 demerits = 40

1 demerit = 95 7 demerits = 65 13 demerits = 35

2 demerits = 90 8 demerits = 60 14 demerits = 30

3 demerits = 85 9 demerits = 55 15 demerits = Removal from the team

4 demerits = 80 10 demerits = 50

5 demerits = 75 11 demerits = 45

*Note: Demerits can be offset with Merits

Performance Test:

Each member will be performance tested on routines that we perform throughout the year. They will be assessed in small groups and graded individually based on memory of the movement, proper execution and placement of movement, projection/showmanship, and rhythm/timing.


Performance Completion:

Performance grades will be based on participation and completion of a scheduled performance and giving full effort. Deductions will occur for violations of the above mentioned criteria or a zero will be given for an unexcused absence.
