How to Join the 2024 - 2025 Silver Stars Dance Team

How Do I Join the Silver Stars Dance Team?

- In order to reserve a spot on next year's Silver Stars dance team, you must be a current 6th or 7th grade student at RBMS. You also must attend the parent/student informational meeting & all three days of Star Clinic in March.

Is there a parent meeting for incoming new members?

- Yes. We will be having a mandatory parent & student meeting Monday, February 26 at 6:30 pm for the 2024-2025 school year in the RBMS Cafeteria for all parents of new members. We will pass out information regarding approximate costs to be on the team and will discuss the expectations for being a member of our organization. You must contact Coach Harris in advance if you are unable to attend the meeting. Attending the mandatory informational meeting is step 1 in our audition process. In order to audition you MUST attend this meeting.

When does the Star tryout clinic take place?

What do I wear to the STAR tryout clinic?

- You MUST wear all black, form fitting clothing you can move in or dance clothing. Wear dance shoes OR you can wear athletic shoes.
- DO NOT wear jeans! (Be sure to bring athletic shoes, no matter what)
- Hair must be secured out of face and no jewelry.

What if I don't come to the clinic? Can I still join the dance team?

- No. You MUST come consistently every day in order to get your name on the team roster.
- The counselors will NOT put dance team on your schedule if your name is not on the Dance Team roster.

Do I need to pick up any paperwork?

- Yes. You can pick up your paperwork at the parent/student informational meeting on February 26 in the cafeteria.

Can I audition for an officer position if I have never been on the dance team before?

- No. In order to audition for a leadership role, you must be a current Silver Star member, and be going into the 8th grade.

Can I be in athletics OR in cheerleading and be on dance team as well?

- You can be in athletics & dance team but those will be special circumstances & you will need to clear that with Coach Bell & Coach Harris. You may play any sport in 8th grade and do dance team, but in 7th grade you may only play basketball, soccer, and track and do dance team. You cannot do cheer & dance team.

Can I be in band or choir or theater and be on dance team?

- Yes. You can be in either band OR choir OR theater and do dance team at the same time.
- However, sometimes conflicts with these activities cannot be avoided. It is the responsibility of the student and parent to coordinate these activities.
