Grading Policies

50% Participation 50% Skill Assessment

Students receive a daily participation grade of 3 points. Students earn 1 point for being present, the other 2 points based on their active participation in class activities. If a student is absent this will be noted in the gradebook. Absences in the gradebook do not effect overall grade.

Points can and may be taken off for work that is less than excellent. Students should strive to turn in their best work and perform at their highest level. While late submissions already receive deductions, further deductions based on quality of work will be made on a case-by-case basis with possibility for revisions and will be communicated to the student appropriately. We encourage students to turn in their best work regardless of the circumstances.

Late work will be accepted for any student work that may be assigned in choir, however, a 10 point deduction will be applied to the assignment for each day it is late. 2 days late means minus 20 pts and the highest grade a student can receive is an 80% on that assignment. We will not deduct more than 30 pts, or 3 days worth of points, on any assignment. Students should turn work in regardless if its late or not. Any work not turned in is an automatic 0%.

WE WILL ONLY RECEIVE LATE WORK UP UNTIL THE FINAL FRIDAY OF THE CURRENT 6 WEEKS. ANY ASSIGNMENT(S) MISSING BEYOND THAT POINT WILL REMAIN A 0% FOR THE REPORT CARD.
