Unit of Study 1--Movement and Voice

This unit introduces students to essential skills in voice, movement, rhythm, and dramatic play to build expressive communication and audience awareness. They explore five voice types and practice respectful audience behavior, develop steady beat and rhythmic patterns through movement and body percussion, and engage in role play using props to retell simple stories. Students also express emotions with voice, body, and instruments, culminating in creative improvisation and group performances. Throughout, the unit emphasizes teamwork, creativity, and listening skills, aligned with Texas TEKS for 1st and 2nd grade music and theatre, fostering confident and empathetic young performers.
