Absences
If your child must miss school, please send an email to ParkAttendance@leanderisd.org or send a note with your student when they return to school. We ask that all notes be submitted within 48 hours of the absence.
Please include the following information:
your child's first and last name
student ID number
date(s) of absence
reason for absence.
Medical documentation can take the place of a parent note. You may send the note with your child to school and have them drop it at the front office or you can take a picture with your phone, and email it as an attachment.
Please know that emailing your students teachers does not automatically excuse your student’s absence.
Attendance Key Points
At the Elementary level, a student is considered tardy if they arrive to school after the start of the school day. If a student is more than one (1) hour late to school and/or misses attendance at 8:30 he/she will be marked absent for the entire day.
A student may be excused for a temporary (partial day) absence due to an appointment with health care professionals for either the student or the student’s child if the student begins classes or returns to school on the same day of the appointment/treatment. Official verification of the absence from the doctor or medical provider’s office must be provided within 48 hours of the student’s return to school.
Excused absences include, but are not limited to personal illness, funeral/memorial, quarantine, or weather or road conditions that make travel dangerous.
An unexcused absence is any absence that does not meet the definition of an excused absence (examples: personal business, travel, vacation, traffic, car trouble, etc.).
Per LISD policy, all attendance notes, medical and parent, must be turned in within 48 hrs. (2 days) from the students return. https://www.leanderisd.org/attendance/
