1. Classroom guidance lessons - Lessons in your child's classroom with topics that include self-esteem, exploring personal strengths, career awareness, coping skills, resilience, and goal setting.
2. Promote positive social interactions - Sponsor for our monthly Titan Excellence and facilitator for campus Second Step program. You can follow along with your child's social-emotional curriculum here or if you would like to come see the curriculum in person, please let the counselor know .
3. Short-term group or individual responsive services - Provide counseling on an as needed or brief recurring basis for situational support (friendship issues, short term family support, coping skills, behavior support, etc.). School counselors do not perform ongoing therapy or provide mental health diagnoses, but we can assist with guidance and referrals.
4. Parent support - Help parents navigate life with a school-aged kid. Provide referrals/resources as needed. Consult regarding normal development/behaviors. Assist with parent/child or parent/teacher communication.
5. Crisis response - Coordinate resources and staff to respond to emergencies. Support students and families in crisis with resources and referrals.

Counselors will respect a student's right to privacy unless (1) a parent/guardian requests information, (2) matters discussed pertain to suicide or possible harm to another person, (3) matters discussed pertain to any type of abuse, (4) there is a legal requirement for disclosure, or (5) there is a necessity to consult with other professionals.
