GENERAL INFORMATION:
~ Class will begin promptly at 7:30 each morning. Please be sure that your child arrives at school in plenty of time to be in class and ready to begin promptly. Doors open at 7:10.
~ Our room can be chilly at times, so feel free to send a jacket, sweatshirt, etc. for your child to keep in their locker.
~ Please send a labeled tight-sealing water bottle with your child each day.
~ Please send snacks that are healthy, quick to eat (without utensils), and easy to clean up, like sliced apples, cheese sticks, peeled oranges, carrot sticks, cherry tomatoes, whole wheat crackers, a protein/snack bar, etc.
~ Most Fridays, your child will bring home a folder containing graded work and other school notifications. Important notifications may go home on other days.
Please keep the papers, and send the (empty) folder back to school each Monday.
~ Students need to read for at least 30 minutes daily and study their weekly spelling words. Students should be studying math facts and often practicing multiplication facts. Thank you for helping with this.
TRANSPORTATION CHANGES:
Student safety is our priority. If there is ever a change in how your child will get home (playdate with a friend, Grandma is picking up, etc.), you MUST notify the front office of the change before 1:15 p.m. Please use the new School Dismissal Manager (SDM) for all transportation changes. The SDM system will alert me to any changes as will the office as necessary. Please do not assume that giving your child a verbal reminder about a change without contacting the front office or using SDM will suffice. Please contact me as well. Thank you!
COMMUNICATION and CONFERENCES:
In addition to the Parent Square information that myself, the school, and district send regularly, the fourth grade team will send out a "Fourth Grade Weekly" newsletter. Please read it carefully as it will keep you informed about what we're doing in class, as well as any upcoming events. Please reach out with any questions or concerns.
In the fall, all parents will be asked to attend at least one joint meeting to discuss their child's progress. A sign-up will be sent to you closer to that time.
HOMEWORK:
Dreambox - 5 to 8 lessons weekly in class. If a student is behind or needs more time, then the expectation is to work on Dreambox at home.
Amira- 30 minutes a week in Language Arts class, but if extra time is needed, can be worked on at home.
(Go to my technology page for information on how to login at home.)
