Welcome!

Hello Mustang Nation! 

I am so happy to join the team at Mason Elementary!  Thank you so much for the warm welcome!  I am excited to get to know all of our students and to work with all of our community in understanding IB and what an incredible opportunity our students have to access a world class education within the public school system. Leander ISD is a destination district for a reason. What we do as a community impacts our students' future in a big way. We need to be responsive and be preparing them for their future. 

I am an international educator and have worked within several different countries and school systems. What the IB offers is something incredibly special to help our students prepare for the world of tomorrow. I deeply align and believe in concept and inquiry based education and providing a framework for students to become critical and creative thinkers, compassionate community contributors, skilled communicators and collaborators, and adaptable and reflective individuals - our Leander Graduate Profile! The vision and mission of this district partnered with the proven IB Education Programme provides our students the best foundation to reach their full potential and to be the creators and innovators of our future world.  I am excited to be here and I look forward to getting to know everyone in our community. Together in partnership, we all play a significant role in supporting our students in developing their own individual full potential!

Dr. Janat 

Dr. Janat (PhD., MEd., BEd. ICF-ACC, DTM) is an international educator, speaker, and trainer originally from Canada, and now living her childhood dream of calling Texas home. She has a doctorate in Education Leadership and has a wealth of knowledge of international training, teaching, and culturally responsive leadership. She is a certified teacher in Manitoba, Canada, a Texas Certified Principal and Teacher, a certified ICF coach, and a Google Certified Educator. Janat has worked internationally for over 17 years in IB PYP, Thai International and English Program Schools, in teacher training in Southeast Asia, and in Montessori education in Austin, Texas. She has worked internationally as a workshop presenter, keynote speaker, guest lecturer, and trainer on leadership, differentiation, assessment, and culturally responsive leadership, and worked with organizations in Southeast Asia in developing democracy in education. Janat has a passion for working to develop education for the 21st century. She is passionate about agency, leadership, and working with social emotional learning and Trauma to support all community members. She is passionate about working with students and teachers to help them develop their unique talents and confidence to be leaders in creating a society that values diverse perspectives and who can communicate and collaborate to innovate.
