These are general dance courses are offered (no audition or experience is required). Students in these classes obtain BOTH a PE Credit and a Fine Art Credit! This then opens the door for students to have the potential for free class periods their junior/senior year!

Dance Wellness is intended for any 9th-12th grade student who wants to focus on enhancing and refining athletic performance through techniques and training in Dance. Dance Wellness focuses on kinesiological understanding, proper nutrition, injury prevention, ability to use imagery effectively and overall fitness.  No dance experience is required. 

Dance has been proven over and over again to be an excellent way to cross-train for serious athletes and dancers. In Dance Wellness , we will improve your flexibility, core control (balance), footwork, overall strength, and stability. These improvements will help you in injury prevention, stamina/endurance, mobility, and agility. 

This is offered to prepare dancers for Sapphire & Blue Belle auditions. At semester break, students transfer into corresponding training classes based on the audition results (experience and training needed).

This is a course for dancers who hope to pursue a career in teaching dance. They assist in Dance 1-4 courses while learning teaching methods and completing choreography projects (teacher approval required).

This is the Varsity Dance Team of Leander High School. They perform at all Leander football games, several basketball games, various community performances, and present a yearly holiday and spring shows (auditions required). The Sapphire Performance Co. is one of LISD's performance dance teams that includes Leander HS students in 9 - 12th grade. Sapphires is designed specifically for those who want to experience the full spectrum of dance team participation with a minimal outside time commitment with lots of performance opportunities! Sapphire Performance Co. is non-varsity.

Sapphires is the perfect choice for Leander HS students who want to balance their passion for dance with time for other academic or extracurricular activities. Sapphire schedule works with the IB schedule! Auditions are held once a year during the spring semester.
