Fine Arts Dance Course Offerings
This is an introductory dance class. It is an interactive and engaging class that explores a range of dance styles and genres. With the study of World history, we will also be exploring various styles of dance throughout the world. Although it can feel intimidating at times, this class is designed for students to learn. move, and gain skills that extend beyond the walls of the classroom. We have unit tests & skills test with each unit. Skills test are graded for effort, memory, technique & performance. Dance classes perform in the holiday show and spring show.
*there is a wide range of level/ability in this class. We tailor/modify technique combinations & dance combinations to accommodate every level of dancer in the class.
Builds upon Dance 1. This course is unique as it teaches the building blocks of composition, explores dance composition/choreography, world dance, hip hop, production & performance. Dance classes perform in the holiday show and spring show.
IB is a 2 year (11th/12th grade) holistic educational program with 6 areas of study. IB Dance falls in the choice of 6 IB electives within the IB DP Program. IB Dance consists of world dance movement and analysis, Solo composition, European Studies, Dance Investigation/composition/performance, and written analysis of dance.
This class is an intermediate-advanced class for dancer who wishes to audition for the Sapphires JV Dance Team or The Blue Belles Varsity Dance Team. The sole purpose of this class is to build technique & skill and fully prepare for the December Auditions. Styles include: Jazz, Hip Hop, Lyrical/Contemporary, Pom, & High Kick. Performances: One performance in the Fall in the Blue Belles Holiday Show.
This team consists of 10th-12th graders who dance & perform year round at all football games, several basketball games & present a yearly spring show in April/May. The dance season on this team is late July-early June. Auditions are required.
This team consists of 9th-12th graders who dance & perform year round. The dance season on Sapphires JV is January - December. Auditions are required.
