Meet the Counselors

Mrs. Grimes comes to Knowles Elementary with 19 years of experience in education. She was a 1st grade teacher for 9 years, a Pre-K-5th grade Special Education teacher for 4 years, a Behavior Specialist for 3 years, and is working on her 3rd year as a school counselor. Mrs. Grimes is excited about joining Knowles Elementary and Leander ISD. She has a passion for working with students and helping them with their social and emotional skills. In her time outside of school she enjoys spending time with her family and 2 dogs.  

Mrs. Stratman received her master's degree in social work from the University of Texas at Austin. She has a passion for working with children and their families and is excited to join Knowles Elementary. She utilizes a strengths-based perspective in her work and brings a knowledge of systems, child development, and human behavior. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband and friends. 

Counselors will respect a student's right to privacy unless (1) a parent/guardian requests information, (2) matters discussed pertain to suicide or possible harm to another person, (3) matters discussed pertain to any type of abuse, (4) there is a legal requirement for disclosure, or (5) there is a necessity to consult with other professionals.
