At GHS, student safety and the promise of a productive learning environment are our primary concerns. Please remember that each infraction is always placed within situational context, and discipline can vary based on circumstances.
Part of our pledge to keep students safe and engaged in a secure learning environment is our commitment to student mental health and general well-being.
If a student is found to be...
Exhibiting behaviors that are disruptive
Indicating some type of physical or mental impairment
In emotional or physical distress
Refusing to follow any directive given by any campus adult
...they will be immediately referred to the Assistant Principal's office or Counseling office as appropriate. In certain circumstances, evaluation by the campus nurse may be necessary.
Not all behavioral referrals to the Assistant Principal's office automatically result in consequences. Discipline in each situation is determined by many factors and parents or guardians will always be informed about any conversation held with a student in the administrative offices.
Use OR possession of a prohibited or illegal item anywhere on campus or district property is subject to immediate action.
Please review the LISD High School Handbook for a complete list and detailed explanation of prohibited and illegal items. If a student is found to be USING or IN POSSESSION of a prohibited or illegal item, the student and the item will be brought immediately to the Assistant Principal's office.
Discipline for possession of a prohibited or illegal item is guided by campus and district policy and can vary based on the item itself.
Possession of a prohibited or illegal item can result in assignment to ISS for a full or half day, or assignment to the LEO Center.
Restrooms at Glenn High School are frequently monitored for cleanliness and student safety. In order to maintain our facilities, certain behaviors outlined below are prohibited in restrooms at Glenn High School.
Students are subject to possible questioning, search of person or personal items, and/or consequences if they are found to be in violation of the following policies:
Only ONE student is allowed in a stall at any time.
Vandalism of any campus property is strictly prohibited.
Use OR possession of a prohibited or illegal item on campus property, including restrooms, is strictly prohibited.
Violation of these rules can result in assignment to ISS for a full or half day, or assignment to the LEO Center.
Skipping assigned classes is strictly prohibited. For the safety of all students at Glenn High School, administration must account for the location of each student at any time during the school day.
A student is considered to be skipping a class if they are found to be in another area of the campus without a pass from their teacher of record, in the student or staff parking lot during their assigned class time, seen on camera exiting through one of the exterior doors at Glenn High School, or located in one of our academic flex spaces without a pass from their teacher of record.
Discipline for skipping a class is handled on a case by case basis. Factors that may impact final decisions by administration include circumstance, context, frequency of this infraction, and number of students involved. Other mitigating circumstances may also be taken into consideration.
Skipping can result in assignment to ISS for a full or half day, or assignment to Saturday School.
At GHS, we strive to instill value in every moment students are in our classrooms. Persistent tardiness can result in missing invaluable learning or relational building time. A student is considered tardy if they are not present in their assigned classroom by the time the tardy bell rings at the end of the passing period. At GHS, tardies are counted by semester.
5 Tardies : Student and parent will be sent a warning email.
10-15 Tardies : Student will be assigned two lunch detentions.
16-20 Tardies : Student will be assigned two lunch detentions.
21-25 Tardies : Student will be assigned 1/2 Day of ISS
26-30 Tardies : Student will be assigned 1/2 Day of ISS
31-35 Tardies : Student will be assigned 1 Day of ISS
36+ Tardies : Student will be assigned 2 Saturday Schools
