Course Selection for 2027-28

Plan Early. Explore Every Pathway.

Course planning for the 2027–28 school year is underway! Throughout the year, students will work with their campus counselors to explore interests, learn about available courses and pathways, and build their academic plans for the year ahead.

Starting the process in the fall gives students more time to explore their options and gives campuses an earlier look at student interest as they plan courses, staffing and schedules for next year.

Our goal is simple: Keep pathways open and help every student discover what they are passionate about.

What Families Need to Know

There isn't a single course-selection deadline families need to prepare for right now. Instead, students will continue working with their counselors throughout the fall and winter as their course plans take shape.

Draft course plans will be available for families to review no later than Feb. 22. Families will then have through March 11 to request changes as needed.

In the meantime, families can:

• Explore the 2027–28 Course Catalog with your student and talk about courses, programs and pathways that interest them.

• Stay connected with your campus counseling team as students work through the planning process.

• Visit the Course Selection Hub for key dates, resources and information about the process.

Join Leander ISD at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 19, for a live webinar. District leaders will walk through the course-planning process, share information about programs and opportunities available to students, and answer questions from families.

The webinar will be recorded and shared afterward on the Course Selection Hub for families who are unable to attend live.

📅 Key Dates at a Glance

October – December 2026

Learn & Explore: Students and families learn about Naviance and start exploring interests by working their 4-year (high school) and 3-year (middle school) plans. Each school’s counseling team is following a slightly different timeline through this period.

Now available: Explore the 2027–28 Course Catalog to learn more about courses and opportunities available to students.

Monday, Oct. 19, 2026: Join our Course Selection Family Webinar to learn more about the process, available programs and how families can stay involved.

January 2027

Plan & Prepare: Students continue working with counselors to connect their interests and goals with courses for the 2027–28 school year. Events hosted at the campus level for students transition to a new level: 5th to 6th and 8th to 9th.

Feb. 22 through March 11, 2027

Adjust if needed: Beginning Feb. 22, draft course plans will be available for families to review in the Home Access Center (HAC). All families should review their student’s plan. If changes are needed, students and families can request revisions through March 11.

Schedule Changes and Conflicts

Schedule changes for 2027-2028 school year will be permitted until Thursday, March 11, 2027 at 4pm. Students are expected to honor their commitments for the year. Teachers are hired and courses are created based on student course selections. Due to these variables and the complexity of the master schedule, changes beyond this date cannot be accommodated. 

Since the master schedule is created to accommodate the majority, there is without doubt individuals who will not receive their desired courses. While we regret these occurrences and do everything to avoid them, they are inevitable and unavoidable. Student's schedules are often time driven by their elective choices and certain combinations are not possible. We regret to inform you of this dilemma and will work hard to minimize its occurrence.  Should this occur, a counselor will reach out to parents and students to provide options.

Schedule Distribution

CRMS students and families will have viewing access to their schedule in Home Access Center (HAC) prior to the first day of school. The exact date will be communicated closer to the first day of school, but typically we make schedules viewable in HAC the day of sixth grade open house night. A paper schedule will be provided to students on the first day of school. 

All information below this point is from last year in preparation for 2026/2027.

COURSE VERIFICATION 26/27

Please view your child's HAC courses for accuracy. If there is a mistake or you would like to make a change, please utilize the appropriate grade level google form on our counseling website. Changes to course requests will be allowed until Thursday, March 12, 2026 at 4pm. No action needed if courses are correct. 

How to view your course requests:

Log-in to Home Access Center → Select ‘Classes’ → Select the ‘Schedule’ tab.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page to see 2026/2027 Course Requests.

Notes:

• This is not a course schedule. These are student requests and are in no particular order.

• Course requests are a yearlong commitment. No changes to courses will be accepted after Thursday, March 12, 2026 at 4pm.

• Due to scheduling constraints, some specific class combinations may not always be available. Additionally, the availability of specific classes will be dependent on student interest and master schedule considerations.

• Home Access viewing of course requests will be viewable through May 29th and then closed until schedules are live in August.
