Summer Training Opportunities:
Track & Field Camp - Great for developing speed and proper running mechanics!
Cross Country Camp - Develop endurance, get on the right track for summer training, and meet teammates you can train with during the summer.
We're gearing up for another successful Cross Country season! If you are planning on running Cross Country during the upcoming school year, you should begin training NOW! To get the most out of your experience on this team, it is recommended that you have a base level of fitness prior to the start of practices. A great standard to test your preparedness for the season is if you are able to run 2 miles without having to stop to walk or take breaks. If you are not currently able to run 2 miles consecutively, you can work up to this distance by beginning with a run/walk and gradually increasing the distance that you run prior to taking a walk break. (Example: Start by running a half-mile, walk for a few minutes, and repeat until you've run 2 miles. Next time, run 3/4 of a mile, walk for a few minutes, and repeat until you've run 2 miles. Progress until you are able to run 2 miles without walking.)
Workouts for practice will consist of a dynamic warm-up, ~20-30 minutes of running, and a cool-down jog/stretch.
