Truancy notifications are automatically generated and sent by the LISD and not by Vandegrift High School based on the following codes:
O (Unverified/Unexcused absence, No documentation provided)
U (Unexcused absence)
Truancy notifications are sent out as follows:
3+ Unexcused absences - 1st Truancy Warning Notice = Remind notification
7+ Unexcused absences - 2nd Truancy-Attendance Notice = Email from Assistant Principal
10+ Unexcused absences - 3rd Truancy Final Warning Notice = Remind notification
To avoid receiving automatic truancy notifications, please provide appropriate documentation for your student's absences within 2 days of returning to campus after an absence. Documentation can be emailed to VHSattendance@leanderisd.org or your student can turn it in at the Attendance Office.
Notes received late will be accepted for student's file, but attendance coding may not change.
Changes cannot be made to absences in previous grading cycles.
If you have any additional questions about Truancy please reach out to your student's assigned Assistant Principal - Amanda Toon (Students A-B), Becky Azard-Jackson (Students C-G), Parrish McEwen (Students H-Ma), Colin Fletcher (Students Mc-Sa), David Barnes (Students Sc-Z) or our Truancy Prevention Specialist, Amber Ryder.
If you are not receiving Remind notifications, please visit the LISD Remind Page
Please visit our District’s Attendance website to learn more about attendance policy and state law regarding attendance.
