MOEMS (Mathematical Olympiads for Elementary and Middle Schools) is a global not-for-profit organization that helps students explore mathematical concepts while developing flexibility in solving non-routine problems with multiple solution paths.
Our Math Olympiad program prepares students for monthly MOEMS tests (5 in total), which are anticipated to move online this fall.
100% of the students enrolled in the LCUSD Math Olympiad program
The Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) hosts an annual county-wide Math Field Day event.
The six students (four on the team + two alternates) per school (PCY-4th, LCE-5th, PCR-6th) with the top cumulative MOEMS test score. These students will join a district Math Field Day team of 7th-11th graders from LCHS.
Math Olympiad serves as a year-long training for the LCUSD district-wide math competition, Mathzilla!, or its virtual alternative, United We Math.
Any 4th, 5th, or 6th grade student is eligible to participate in the contests, regardless of Math Olympiad enrollment. All students enrolled in the Math Olympiad program will be trained for the Mathzilla!.
