Hello everyone! I'm thrilled to step in as our new LCUSD GATE teacher. I look forward to working with our GATE students this year!
I graduated from UC Berkeley, got my teaching credential and Master's at Whittier College, and began my teaching career teaching 7th grade in Whittier. For the past 7 years I taught both 4th grade and Kindergarten at Paradise Canyon Elementary here in LCUSD.
I have always been passionate about creating a learning environment that is engaging and meaningful. It is my goal to challenge students to think critically and creatively and provide them with opportunity to discover and grow their individual skills and talents.
A few of my favorite things: In my free time, I love dancing and hiking. I'm obsessed with my dog Charlie and sloths. I enjoy reading- it's how I start and end every single day!
Students with gifts and talents perform - or have the capability to perform - at higher levels compared to others of the same age, experience, and environment in one or more domains. They require modification(s) to their educational experience(s) to learn and realize their potential. Student with gifts and talents:
Come from all racial, ethnic, and cultural populations, as well as all economic strata.
Require sufficient access to appropriate learning opportunities to realize their potential.
Can have learning and processing disorders that require specialized intervention and accommodation.
Need support and guidance to develop socially and emotionally as well as in their areas of talent.
Require varied services based on their changing needs.
