Afternoon Activities

Our school has 18 rooms on the third floor. Each teacher on this floor is paired with a partner teacher, and together they choose three hands-on activities to host in their room during the afternoon of I Love Math Day. Both teachers host the same three activities in their individual rooms. That afternoon, each student receives a blue or green activity card, indicating which set of rooms they can visit. All third through fifth graders are invited to move freely from room to room, participating in activities that interest them. After trying an activity, they ask the adult present to sign their activity card. Students are expected to get at least six signatures in the afternoon. We invite parents and local college and high school students to volunteer to provide extra support for the classroom teachers during this time.
