Spanish I

In Spanish 1 we will cover the material in chapters 1-6 in the textbook Avancemos, book 1. Students will be taught how to say what they like. They will describe themselves, their friends, their classes, their house and their family. They will learn numbers 1-100. They will be taught how to tell time in Spanish. They will compare food and eating habits in Hispanic countries with the United States. They will describe shopping for clothing and other weekend activities. Cultural information on the Hispanic population in the United States, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Spain, Ecuador and the Dominican Republic will be discussed in English. Students will speak and write Spanish in complete sentences using the present tense and the immediate future.
