General Information
Our team website is whstf.org

Remind.com (or text 81010) @wgindoor
Picture day is Saturday November 20th, 10 am in the main gym
Plan to arrive no later than 9:45 am.
Indoor track is really “winter” track with a different set of events from spring or outdoor track and field.
Practice is held outdoors at the school stadium Monday through Friday from 4:15-6:15.
We have very limited access to the school building due to high demand for the indoor space
Appropriate clothing for outdoor activates is required.
Dress in layers and have hat and gloves available.
Weather and temperature may limit the duration of an outdoor practice and proper clothing is required by LCPS.
See chart on Announcements Page.
If outdoor practice times are restricted due to weather and temperature we will end in the main building.
In the event practice must be cancelled, a Remind will be sent out no later than 3pm so school transportation is still available.
Meets
All our meets are “polar bear” meets held on outdoor tracks.
We have seven meets prior to the regional and state meets
December 4 Bobcat Blizzard at Battlefield Hs
December 15 Woodgrove HS
January 6 Rock Ridge Hs
January 12 Independence Hs
January 15 Winter Jacket Classic at Osbourne Park Hs
January 19 Heritage Hs
January 22 Spartan Polar Bear at Broad Run Hs
Regionals February 12 or 19 at Shenandoah University
State Meet February 25/26 in Virginia Beach
We will need parent volunteers for our Woodgrove home meet.
Please contact me or Coach Pollard threw Remind to volunteer.
Without parent volunteers, there are no track meets.
There are no “cuts” in winter track but inclusion in a meet is not guaranteed.
Indoor track is a Varsity sport with limited entries at all meets, and only the top 3 athletes / event and relays will travel for Saturday Invitationals.
Indoor track is now a Tier 1 sport and LCPS busses will be supplied for all meets through regionals.
Participation in the state meet may require personal transportation and accommodations.
Equipment
Proper shoes are of critical importance for all sports.
Correctly fitted training shoes are needed for proper support and injury prevention.
Specialty running stores can recommend the proper training shoe for distance and sprint workouts.
Running spikes are not required and can be purchased later in the season if desired.
Potomac River Running with multiple locations in Loudoun and Runners’ Retreat in Winchester are good suppliers and offer discounts to student athletes.
Uniform tops will be supplied to athletes on the team.
Running shorts, tights and other under garments will need to be supplied by the individual athlete.
The supplied items should be black with small or no visible manufacturers’ logos.
Bikini style shorts are not allowed.
Uniform shorts will be supplied for Regional and State athletes on relay teams where strict uniform rules will be enforced.
Other
Parent volunteers are welcome to plan and organize team dinners and end of season award gathering.
If you want to use the school facilities, arrangements must be made well in advance of the desired date.
Finally, parents, please be on time for after practice pick up. It gets cold standing at the stadium and Coaches have lives too.
