Oreo is missing!! Who took her? where are they hiding her?

Oreo’s cage is empty and she hasn’t been seen in days! Ms. Loya is very worried about her so she asked Officer Ace to check the security camera footage to see if he could figure out what happened to her. Unfortunately, the security cameras near Oreo’s cage stopped working at some point on the day Oreo disappeared! The security camera footage showed her safe in her cage in the morning, and then the footage stopped. By the time the glitch was discovered and the security cameras were fixed, she was already gone! The following people were seen near Oreo’s cage the day she disappeared before the cameras stopped working: Mr. Ameen, Mrs. Weaver, Mrs. Gwizdala, Mrs. Kendrick, Mrs. Loftus, Ms. Read, and Mr. Shirley. Could one of them have taken her? Ivy and the library staff are on the case, but they need your help to find and solve the clues to find Oreo!

The Suspects

Mr. Ameen

Job Title: Assistant Principal

Favorite Food: sesame chicken

Hobby: all things animal-related

Fun Fact: His right eye is 2 different colors (blue AND brown).

Motive: Oreo originally lived with Mr. Ameen's family before coming to live at Farmwell. Does he want to take Oreo back to live on his farm?

Mrs. Weaver

Job Title: School bookkeeper

Favorite Food: popcorn

Hobby: playing with rescue dogs, cats, ....and bunnies!

Fun Fact: Since bunnies are physically unable to vomit, Mrs. Weaver once had to perform the Heimlich maneuver on Oreo when she was choking.

Motive: Mrs. Weaver is jealous because she thinks Oreo loves Ms. Loya more than her. Would Mrs. Weaver take Oreo to try to replace Ms. Loya in her affections?

Mrs. Gwizdala

Job Title: 6th grade counselor in House C

Favorite Food: tacos and sushi (not at the same time)

Hobby: dancing and painting

Fun Fact: Mrs. Gwizdala has owned 10 hamsters in her lifetime.

Motive: Mrs. Gwizdala is extremely allergic to Oreo cookies, and this has made her bitter towards everything that bears the name "Oreo". Is the bitterness she feels due to her cookie allergy enough for her to steal our beloved bunny? Perhaps if she can't have Oreos, no one can...?

Mrs. Kendrick

Job Title: 6th grade English teacher

Favorite Food: pizza

Hobby: watching movies

Fun Fact: Mrs. Kendrick worked at Disney World when she was in college.

Motive: Mrs. Kendrick is obsessed with rabbits. She had a rabbit named Harvey, and he was one of the best things that happened to her. She misses having a rabbit at home, and Oreo is hard to resist...

Mrs. Loftus

Job Title: 7th grade English teacher

Favorite Food: cheesecake

Hobby: reading, writing, and cooking

Fun Fact: Mrs. Loftus used to work for NASA before she worked at Farmwell

Motive: Mrs. Loftus has a second, secret job as a TV commercial director, and she's had her eye on Oreo as the new Cadbury Egg Bunny! Now . . .if she can just get some one-on-one time with Oreo later to get her to make the "bawk, bawk" noises by Easter, she can make Oreo a STAR!

Ms. Read

Job Title: 8th grade English teacher

Favorite Food: lasagna

Hobby: swimming and weight lifting

Fun Fact: She likes to make homemade bunny treats and leave them in random places around Farmwell.

Motive: One of Ms. Read's friends growing up had a bunny, and Ms. Read always wanted one too. Does she want one enough to take Oreo?

Mr. Shirley

Job Title: Tech Ed teacher

Favorite Food: chocolate chip cookie dough

Hobby: swimming

Fun Fact: Mr. Shirley has been doing sports photography for almost 20 years!

Motive: Mr. Shirley loves swimming and sports photography. Did he take Oreo to use as a model for his "bunnies swimming at the beach" photo series?

The possible locations

The library

The library is a perfect hiding place. There are lots of shelves and books and places to hide. The librarians once found a fossilized sandwich hidden behind some books, so you never know what you'll find in the library.

The gym area

It might not seem like there are many places to hide in the gym, but this area includes offices and locker rooms, so there are many possibilities in this area of the school for someone to hide a bunny. Maybe the smell of stinky gym clothes might hide the smell of a bunny from a puppy detective and her library detective assistants making it a perfect place to hide Oreo.

House C office

The House C office is near two of our suspects and has lots of ideal hiding locations for a bunny, including two storage closets, as well as easy access to food and water if someone needed to keep a bunny fed until they went out of the building.

The cafeteria

The cafeteria, including the kitchen in the back, has the easiest access to food and water of any of the suspected hiding locations, but there are many people in and out of the cafeteria from morning through lunch time. Would anyone notice a hidden bunny in here?

The detectives

Ivy

Ivy is a fluffy puppy and a professional "lost pet" scent-detecting dog. She's the head investigator of this case. She lives with Mr. Ameen, but she's very professional and would never let that get in the way of solving the case.

Mrs. Hood

Mrs. Hood is one of Farmwell's librarians. She read more than 30 mystery novels in the last year which makes her practically a professional detective and the perfect choice for one of Ivy's assistant detectives.

Ms. Haft

Ms. Haft is also one of Farmwell's librarians. She is an expert player of the game Clue, which is almost, but not quite, the same thing as a professional detective. This makes her another excellent choice to assist Ivy in this investigation.

Mrs. Tran

Mrs. Tran is Farmwell's amazing library assistant. She's an Agatha Christie fan and loves logic puzzles which has clearly prepared her for detective work and to assist Ivy in cracking this case.

...and you! We can't find Oreo without your help!

Many thanks to the librarians at John Champe High School, Sarah Anderson and Catie Cote, for their awesome reading activity ideas. Their Clue activity from last year was the inspiration for our "Where is Oreo? activity.
