Tech crew is selected on a show-by-show basis from the students who sign up. Members of the crew meet once per week for an hour and a a half starting shortly after the cast has been selected. As we draw closer to the show, there are tech meetings on some Saturdays. This is the time when most of our set building is done. Closer to the show, generally the final week or two, crew members are expected to attend all rehearsals with the cast. At that time rehearsals may go as late as 9 PM.
Student leaders who help direct the rest of the crew. Previous experience in crew is strongly preferred, but not necessarily required. Skills in a variety of the fields below is extremely helpful.
Lighting crew is responsible for programming stage lights using our lighting console and running lights during shows.
Followspot techs provide individual lighting during select portions of each show.
Sound crew are responsible for helping actors get into microphones, adjusting sound levels throughout the show and playing sound cues.
Responsible for helping actors to apply makeup prior to shows and may be involved in designing makeup looks for specific actors.
These students help to design costumes for each character in the show, organize and label costumes, and assist in quick costume changes during performances.
Primarily responsible for maintaining props organization and assisting actors with props during shows, they may also be involved in the sourcing and/or creation of props, depending on what is called for in that particular show.
During each show, run crew are responsible for moving set pieces, controlling the main curtain, and helping to manage any other things happening backstage such as fog machines, special effects, etc.
Building and painting the set falls under the responsibilities of set crew, though members of other crews may crossover and help with this. Set crew usually transitions into Run Crew after the set is complete.
