Dear Kindergarten,
Our school year is coming to a close and Ms. Stallings and Mrs. Ratcliff want to wish you all a happy, peaceful, and fun summer! This year we have come together as classmates and friends, we sang, danced, played, created and shared joy with one another. Music is a wonderful tool to bring people together. We are sorry this year ended so quickly but we look forward to seeing you next year. Remember to always sing and dance and love one another always! We love you all!
Sincerely,
Ms. Stallings and Mrs. Ratcliff

Hello Kindergarten,
We will be continuing with our conducting lesson from Tuesday. Keep working through the slideshow and learn how to conduct in 2 time. We will also start getting fancy and learn how to add Expression. Expression means the conductor controls the Dynamics (Loud/Soft), Tempo (Fast/Slow), and Articulations (Smooth/Choppy).
Good Morning Kindergarten,
Today we will learn how to conduct in both 4/4 and 3/4 time. Follow the slide show to learn all about conducting.
Good Morning Kindergarten!
Today we are going to continue our Star Wars lesson from Tuesday.
We will warm up our voices with the May song and then watch a video of Ms. Stallings playing the Star Wars Theme from Tuesday's activity. She is playing it on the oboe with piano accompaniment. You created a percussion (cymbal and drum) accompaniment, but did you know the piano is also considered a percussion instrument? If you missed our lesson on Tuesday, don't worry, we have linked it below.
Next, please watch the Star Wars Medley and answer the questions below.
After the Star Wars Medley activity, we have linked Tuesday's Star Wars Melody in Google Chrome Melody Maker. Please create your own percussion accompaniment to go along with the melody. If you completed this activity on Tuesday, create a new percussion accompaniment for today. Don't forget to share your creation on our Padlet on the home page!
Ms. Stallings plays the oboe. The oboe is a double reed instrument. She has been playing the oboe for 7 years.
We have spent a lot of time building Star Wars Legos! Yoshi is wearing his Yoda sweater.
What was the main difference between today's video and Tuesday's video?
Do you hear any instruments?
What was your favorite melody in this version?
Click on the Google Chrome Melody Maker above. The Star Wars Theme is set in the melody. We want you to create your own PERCUSSION accompaniment. The percussion icons are light blue circles and triangles at the bottom of the page. More detailed instruction is below. When finished, press the giant play button and listen to your accompaniment with the melody!
Feel free to share your link to our Padlet on the home page! We would love to see your creations!
Star Wars Accompaniment Activity Example:
Do not alter the melody (colored notes).
I have circled the percussion portion. Look for the blue triangles and squares at the bottom of the page. Click once to turn on the percussion. Click again to turn off the sound.
The triangle makes a cymbal sound while the circle makes a drum sound.
Press play to hear your composition! Don't forget to link it to our Padlet.
Good Morning Kindergarten!
Yesterday was May 4th, May the Fourth be With You, and in celebration we have Star Wars themed activities planned today!
First we are going to warm up with the May song.
Next, please watch the Cello Wars video and answer the questions below.
After the Cello Wars activity, we have created the Star Wars Melody in Google Chrome Melody Maker. Please create your own percussion accompaniment to go along with the melody.
How was the music different and change throughout the video? (think loud/soft, piano/forte and slow/fast, largo/presto)
What other instruments do you hear? Do you hear voices?

Hello Kindergarten,
I hope you enjoyed listening to "The Carnival of the Animals" last lesson. Today if you scroll through the slides you will see the answers. Listen to each song again and see if you can picture each animal and describe what parts of the song make it sound like that animal.
If your guess was different, that is Okay! It doesn't mean you were wrong. Music is amazing and everyone can hear it in different way and have different feelings or emotions about one song. We're all different and that makes us AWESOME!
Write the composers answer on the line in each box of you worksheet. If you didn't do the lesson last class, you can start now with the worksheet above!
Listen to the story "The First Music" by Dylan Pritchett.
What are ways that you can make music with your body?
How do all the animals differences, make the music more complete?
Hello Kindergarten!
Today is all about Animals! We will move like animals. Next we will listen to music that sounds like animals. Can you guess which animal each song is supposed to be?
Make sure to come back next lesson (Thursday) for the answers!
Write your answers here or on your own piece of paper. Draw a picture of the animals. We will share the answers next lesson on Thursday.
*The worksheet is missing one box. Write #10 on the back.
Hello Kindergarten!
Yesterday was Earth Day! It's so important to take care of our planet. We can do this by recycling, not littering, riding a bike or walking for short trips instead of cars, and just being aware and thinking about how we are living in our world. We love this planet, it keeps us alive and healthy so we need to make sure it stays healthy!
Next, listen to and learn the song "I Love This Little Ol' Planet". It has a lot of repetition so it will be easy to learn. See the next video for the choreography. This could be fun to do with the whole family. We'd love to see your dance on our Home Page Padlet!
Finally, for an extra Earth Day activity, I have attached a fun Earth Day vocal exploration worksheet. Follow the line with your voices!
Directions: Bring each object to the recycling bin with a crayon and follow the path with your voice.
Feel free to print out and follow with your voice and a crayon.
OR
Follow along with your voice and a finger on the screen.
Good Morning Kindergarten,
Today we will warm up with our April Song, read "Pete the Cat and the Itsy Bitsy Spider" by James Dean, and end by singing the Itsy Bitsy Spider together.
I have added an Itsy Bitsy Spider coloring page, feel free to color and upload it to our Padlet on the home page! We would LOVE to see your creations. :)
This is an extra activity. Here is the itsy bitsy spider coloring page. Feel free to color and upload it to our Padlet on the home page.

You will need to find 7 different sounding instruments or things around the house that make sounds. These can be sticks, spoons, a hard book, a comb, etc.
Finally, Let's practice some of our rhythms with Sweet Beets Below!
Share your work on our Padlet on the home page!

Hello Kindergarten,
Today we will REVIEW what we learned on Tuesday about High and Low sounds. Will will also practice going Up and Down.
For class today you will need to gather similar items that have different sizes. This could be different sized pots and pan, cups, bottles, or buckets and containers. If you have a xylophone at home, grab that!
*Don't grab things that can break like water glasses unless a parent is helping you.
Start your warm-up below by practicing your Ta and Titi rhythms again. Try Clapping along while you say the rhythms this time.
**Also new to out music site, We have created a Padlet where you can share anything music you are working on! Go to the Home page to upload.
Remember Ta has one sound on a beat.
Titi has two sounds on a beat.

Good Morning Kindergarten!
It has been raining the past couple days. Earlier in the year we did an activity with "It's Raining, It's Pouring". For today's class, we will read "It's Raining, It's Pouring" and then snap, clap, and pat along with the rainstorm slideshow.
After our rainstorm activity, we will review the music vocabulary words tempo, largo, moderato, and presto.
We will transition to creating our own melody in the Google Chrome Melody Maker. Click on the different squares to make a sound. After making your melody, I want you to play it at the largo, moderato, and presto tempos.
How the different tempos will look:
Largo
Moderato
Presto
Hello Kindergarten!
In music class, we spent some time learning about different instruments. For today's class, I want you to find something in your house that you can SHAKE! It can be a jar of sprinkles, or a jar of beads. Find something fun!
After our warm up video, press the picture of Daniel Tiger's Music Shop to explore different instruments. Can you find one that SHAKES?
