Mission and Vision

Mountain View Elementary School Counseling Department Mission:

The mission of the Mountain View Elementary Counseling Department supports the mission of Loudoun County Public schools and Mountain View Elementary school by providing a developmentally appropriate, comprehensive curriculum to address the academic, career, and personal/social needs of all students. Our program empowers students to be confident, knowledgeable, responsible, and productive citizens in a diverse, ever-changing world.


Mountain View Elementary School Counseling Department Vision:

The Mountain View School counseling program envisions all students as productive community members and successful lifelong learners. All students will be able to effectively use critical thinking, to not only solve academic situations but to navigate social relationships. This will lead to our students having a comprehensive approach to assist them in preparing for future academic and personal successes.

Belief Statement

  • The school counselors at Mountain View Elementary will implement a comprehensive professional school counseling program that promotes life-long learning, social and academic growth for all students that aligns with the Virginia Standards for School Counseling Programs and the American School Counselor Association Mindsets and Behaviors.

  • All members of the Mountain View Elementary community have the right to access services provided by the school counselors.

  • The school counselors are safe, trusted adults with whom students can share concerns, accomplishments, and personal goals.

  • As school counselors, we advocate for students' needs and collaborate with the students, teachers, parents, community members and stakeholders acting as the bridge for communication, wellness, and school success.

  • The presence of the school counseling program positively impacts the school climate.

  • The school counseling program will be aligned with best practices of the American School Counselors Association National Standards including ethics, confidentiality and data driven program development.
