Lightridge Summer Band Sessions

All Lightridge Summer Band students will be placed into ensembles based on the recommendation of their directors and camp performance. Once the students are in their specified group, they will rotate through a series of sessions that focus on helping them become a better musician. The breakdown of each of these sessions is as follows:

• Full Band Session

  • This is where all instruments are meeting at the same time and playing through the same pieces of music. Students work directly with conductors on ensemble skills through the performance of high quality music

• Instrument Family Sectionals

  • This session splits the full band into the specific families of instruments (woodwind, brass, and percussion). Students will continue to work on ensemble skills with another music teacher and will also learn some of the specifics of playing in their instrument family

• Group Lessons

  • The final session students attend is a session with just the instruments that they are playing (flute, clarinet, trumpet, etc.). This session is run by a professional music educator who specializes in that instrument that the students are learning. Here they will really focus on the intricacies of their specific instrument and get a chance to hear what a professional on their instrument sounds like.

 Final Concert Performance 

(11AM on July 2, 2025)

On Friday of the last week, all students will showcase their hard work in a final concert performance at 11AM held in the Lightridge High School Auditorium. All friends and family are encouraged to come! 

Each band will give a performance of the music they have worked on for the two weeks. Afterwards, all students will receive their ticket to celebrate with an ice cream truck that will be at Lightridge High School.
