Clubs

We are excited to be hosting several clubs as part of our overall band program. These clubs are optional for all students to join and are meant as extension to their in-class learning. Please be on the look out for more information on how to join these clubs!

Jazz Band - Jazz Band is an extracurricular audition based ensemble. Jazz Band is open to all 7th and 8th grade band students, as well as 8th grade guitar/orchestra students. Students must be enrolled in a Music class at RBMS to participate in Jazz Band. Jazz Band meets on Tuesdays after school starting in October. Students in Jazz Band are expected to uphold high performance standards by demonstrating superior rehearsal techniques and practicing their music outside of rehearsals. Jazz Band typically performs at the music department's Jingle Jam, Dulles Town Center Mall, VBODA District Jazz Assessment, Ridgetop Coffee, Music at The Bend, and in the hallway before winter and summer break!

Percussion Ensemble - Percussion Ensemble is an extracurricular ensemble for 7th and 8th Grade percussion students. Percussion meets on Wednesdays after school starting in October. Students in Percussion Ensemble are expected to uphold high performance standards by demonstrating superior rehearsal techniques and practicing their music outside of rehearsals. Percussion Ensemble performs at the music department's Jingle Jam, VBODA District 16 Solo & Ensemble Festival, and Music at The Bend.

6th Grade Elite Band - This year, we will be offering a unique opportunity for 6th grade band musicians to get more playing time on their instruments. 6th grade band students may choose to audition for the "Elite Band." This merit-based band will meet Thursday's after-school and lets 6th grade band students play in a full-ensemble setting. We will play music separate from a normal band class and perform at the Music at The Bend festival in the spring.

Our first rehearsal will be held on Thursday, February 20th* after-school until 4:45 PM.
