What is title i?
Title I is a federally funded program that provides extra help in reading and/or math!
When selecting students for Title I assistance, three factors are considered:
- School Performance
- Assessments
- Teacher Observation
There are three goals our Title I specialists have for every child that is a part of our Title I program:
- To help your child achieve Virginia's Standards of Learning
- To help your child succeed in school
- To encourage your child to reach his/her maximum potential
During Title I time, your child will receive small-group reading/math instruction from a certified teacher or a highly qualified instructional assistant under the supervision of a Title I teacher. Title I teachers use a wide variety of instructional materials to help your child improve reading/math skills.
Your child may receive help for several weeks, months, or for the entire year, depend on progress and the need for assistance.
