In light of news on migrants from Haiti, Cuba, Afghanistan, Guatemala, Mexico, and too many more, MiSC members decided to convene for virtual conversations about ongoing developments at and beyond the U.S. border.
Through these conversations, we hope to make our research and the history of U.S. immigration more accessible.

A Playlist for Afghanistan
Curated by Josh Kun
Part of the August 27th issue of MiSC's newsletter Migration Archives, "A Playlist for Afghanistan" was curated by member Josh Kun to highlight the music of Afghanistan and its vitality "In the midst of ongoing political betrayal and imperial violence in Afghanistan." As Kun writes: "This playlist does not aim to paint a complete sonic portrait of Afghanistan. Rather, it hopes to present a set of mediations on Afghan struggle, Afghan displacement, Afghan perseverance, and Afghan history in the crosshairs of chronic global invasions."
Click on the link below to check out the playlist and read our note on why we created it.

World Refugee Day 2022 Playlist | Climate Refugee Stories
Curated by Tina Shull and the Climate Refugees Team
From the site of Climate Refugees Stories: "On this World Refugee Day 2022 that coincides with the United States’ observance of Juneteenth, we reflect upon how intertwining forces of dispossession and environmental injustice drive people from their homes, and how these same forces often disallow people from defending their environments or moving to safer ground.
We have curated this Climate Refugee Stories Playlist to honor all who have experienced forced displacement, immobility, or unfreedom, and all who work to build worlds of welcome and refuge—past, present, and future."
