Last Race of The Season

By: Joe Dalpoas

10/23/18

Last Saturday the 20th, the Railers competed at the U-High Regional race, a tough course on a very windy day. To qualify for sectionals, a runner must place in the top five runners. The railers had one runner qualify for sectionals, with Joe Dalpoas missing it by two places. Finishing in order for the boys was Joe Dalpoas, Adam Grunder, Drew Bowman, Mason Woolard (who lost his shoe), Luke Luster (who picked up his shoe), Ian Stauffer, and Peyton Rickard. The railers finished their season out with a pretty good run, although no PR's were set, and stopped at a local Culver's to celebrate a fantastic season.

Early Morning at Effingham

10/15/18

Last Saturday the 13th, the Railers traveled to Effingham, with the bus leaving at 5:30 in the morning. Lincoln had a great race overall, with a few PR's being set. Congratulations to Reese for a 14th place finish, recieving a trophy for her efforts. Finishing in order for the boys was Joe Dalpoas, Adam Grunder, Drew Bowman, Mason Woolard, Ian Stauffer, Peyton Rickard, and a PR of 22:27 for Colton Davis. The temperature during the run was around 40 degrees, so most of the boys were wearing hats and gloves, except for Mason, who was freezing for the race.

Muddy Mess at Metamora

By: Joe Dalpoas

10/8/18

This Saturday, the Railers competed in Metamora, during a massive thunderstorm. Every runner was covered head to toe in mud and rocks, some of them even tasting a little bit as well. As described by one of the runners: "I was running in a pack of 6 other guys, we tried to run up a hill and ended up all falling at the same time." Finishing in order for Lincoln was Joe Dalpoas, Mason Woolard, Ian Stauffer, Luke Luster, Cameron Glick, Peyton Rickard, and Colton Davis (who accidetally cut off .4 miles from the course). Not a good run, but hopefully they can bounce back at Mt. Zion this Tuesday the 9th.

PR's All Over The Place

10/2/18

This Saturday the 29th, the LCHS Cross Country team competed at Jacksonville. This course is known as the best course of the year because it is all flat, and almost shorter than the rules allow. To qualify, a course has to be at least 2.8 miles, and this course is exactly that. Leading for the railers was Joe Dalpoas, with a career PR of 17:26, Adam Grunder with a PR of 17:50, Mason Woolard with a PR of 19:25, Ian Stauffer with a PR of 19:40, Luke Luster with a time of 19:59, Cameron Glick with a PR of 20:30, and Peyton Rickard with a PR of 21:20. A total of 6 out of 7 boys PR'd with the exception being Luke, who ran a 19:30 at last year's Jacksonville meet. It will be hard for any of the runners to beat last week's time on any of the remaining courses. This Tuesday the Railers travel to Maxwell Park in Springfield against U-High.

Team Tackles Big Bertha

By: Joe Dalpoas

9/24/18

This past Saturday, the LCHS Cross Country team competed in Springfield. This course is very well known for the gigantic hill in the middle of it. One of the earlier cross country teams named this hill "Big Bertha". The runners have to run up this monster not once, but twice during the whole 3.1 miles. Finshing for the Railers, in order, were Joe Dalpoas, Adam Grunder, Ian Stauffer, Mason Woolard, Cameron Glick, Luke Luster, and Peyton Rickard. Not running for LCHS Saturday were Colton Davis and Virat Patel. Usually, teams don't do very well because of the hill, but Joe Dalpoas and Adam Grunder cracked the top 100 runners, out of over 350 total. The Railers will be running at Kickapoo Park this Tuesday at their first home meet of the year.

Great Race at Detweiller Course!

By: Joe Dalpoas

9/20/18

This past Saturday, the Lincoln Railers competed at one of the biggest meets of the year, the Peoria Detweiller course. This course is used as the state course, so it is a very popular course to have meets at, in order to prepare the runners for the state race. It's a very flat course and it's even a bit short of 3.1 miles. We had a PR (personal record) from 8 of the 9 runners, with Joe Dalpoas and Adam Grunder placing in the top 50. LCHS ended up placing 47th out of over 60 teams, which doesn't sound very impressive, but it's pretty good for a team with only 9 runners, with most teams having 20+ every race. In the photo to the left, the team found a shop where they sold $10.00 cross country spikes, so they decided to all get a pair, except for Adam, who already had a pair. Freshman will be freshman right.
