We are grateful to be able to offer our families safe and reliable bus transportation to and from our schools.
Before you read the FAQ's below, please note the following clarifying details.
Routes are set by the LCH and LCES Joint Transportation Service.
Bus and drivers are provide by Elgie Bus Lines.
Routes and stops are established in two seasons. Period 1 (Sept 1-Jan 31) and Period 2 (Feb 1 - June 30).
Families wishing to cancel school bus arrangements must do so no later than September30th (period 1) or February 28th (period 2).
Exceptions will be considered for new families joining established bus routes or for families that move and withdraw their students from the school and therefore no longer require the bus.
At LCES, transportation is a separate cost and therefore, financial policies are written differently.
At LCH, transportation costs are included in tuition for every family for the entire year.
COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. It is September 15th. Can I cancel my bus ridership?
Yes, you can cancel up until the 30th of the first or second busing period. If you are an LCES family and you are cancelling within the first month of either busing period, you will be charged for the full month of September (or February).
2. It is after October 1st. Can I cancel my bus ridership?
Yes, you may cancel your ridership, however LCES families will be required to pay for the bus service until the end of Period 1 (January 31).
3. It is October 1st and I have decided I'd like my child to ride the bus. Can I sign up?
Yes, you can request a change to your service throughout the year however; bus routes will not be changed and new stops will not be added until Period 2 (Feb 1- June 30). It may be possible for your child to join an existing stop along an existing route, but only if there is capacity. You will need to meet the bus at the existing location .
4. I would like to switch from 2-way ridership (AM/PM) to 1-way ridership (AM only or PM only). Can I do that?
Yes, you may do so, but if it is after September 30th, you will be charged the 2-way rate for Period 1 (Sept 1-Jan 31).
5. I would like to switch from 1-way ridership (AM only or PM only) to 2-way ridership (AM/PM). Can I do that?
Unfortunately, no, unless the 2nd stop is pre-existing for other riders or a central hub. The route is created with 1-way ridership and adding a new stop could negatively impact other riders. A new stop may be possible for Period 2 (Feb 1- June 30). You can submit a request for consideration.
6. My family is going to be overseas for two months. Can I cancel my bus fees for that period?
No. If the family has committed to transportation, payment is required regardless of whether your children are riding the bus.
7. I am only going to need the bus for 3 months. Can I pay only for that period?
No. We accommodate for two ridership seasons; Period 1 (Sept 1 -Jan 31) and Period 2 (Feb 1 - June 30). Parents need to commit to stops and payments for the entire periods, unless ridership is cancelled before the 30th of each period.
8. I only need the bus 3 days a week. Can I pay for 3-day service?
Unfortunately, you cannot. The bus routes are charged to the school on a 5-day a week service basis. We cannot accomodate for part-time riders.
9. It is December and my family is new to London; we require a bus. Can I sign up?
Yes, you can. If there is room on the bus, you can join an existing stop along the route. We will not be able to change the bus route to include new riders in the middle of the route planning cycles. It will be reviewed in January when the bus routes are adapted for busing Period 2.
10. We want to change our bus stop for a 2-week period while my children are staying at another address. Can we do that?
It may be possible for children to join an existing route for that period provided there is capacity on the route. This cannot be guaranteed and will be done on a best efforts basis depending on the existing schedule. We do not add stops as this will impact the length of the ridership for all students.
11. There is no one available to meet my child at the bus stop. Can the driver drop my child off?
Drivers do not drop off children who are in Grade 3 or younger when there is no one is there to meet them. The student must meet an adult or be accompanied by an older sibling or they will be returned to the school.
12. My child wants to have a friend come over after school on the bus. Is this allowed?
It may be possible, provided there is space on the bus and it is a one-time arrangement versus a continued method of transportation home for your child’s friend. Due to limited capacity, we are unable to accomodate for multiple riders and restrict each student to one (1) guest per ride. The office(s) require 24hr notice where possible, and no later than 12:00pm in an emergency. The student will require an approved bus pass to give to the driver.
