Fostering Excellence: Limerick and Clare Education Training Board Digital Leaders Community of Practice
Technology integration is imperative for growth and innovation in the ever-evolving education landscape. Recognising this, the Limerick and Clare Education Training Board (LCETB) champions a thriving Digital Leaders Community of Practice. This collaboration unites digital leaders within LCETB to foster excellence in digital education practices.
Purpose: The Digital Leaders Community of Practice is a dynamic platform for digital leaders within LCETB to connect, collaborate, and exchange insights. It facilitates sharing best practices, resources, and experiences in leveraging technology to enhance teaching, learning, and administrative processes. Moreover, it fosters a culture of continuous learning among its members that supports the vision and values of LCETB to provide the highest quality education with a focus on technology-enhanced learning.
Aims:
Knowledge Exchange: The community aims to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and expertise among digital leaders, promoting a culture of sharing and collaboration. Members can discuss emerging trends, innovative strategies, and practical solutions relevant to digital education through regular meetings, workshops, and online forums.
Skill Enhancement: Another key aim is to enhance educators' digital skills and competencies within LCETB. By organising training sessions, webinars, and skill-building workshops, the community equips its members with the tools and knowledge to integrate technology into their schools effectively.
Research and Innovation: The Digital Leaders Community of Practice endeavours to bridge the gap between academia and practice by fostering research and innovation in digital education. Collaborative projects and partnerships with academic institutions enable members to explore cutting-edge technologies, pedagogical approaches, and evaluation methods to enhance learning outcomes.
Leadership Development: Beyond technical skills, the community also focuses on cultivating leadership qualities among its members. Through mentorship programs, leadership workshops, and networking opportunities, aspiring and seasoned digital leaders can hone their leadership abilities and drive positive change within their institutions.
Involvement of Academia: Academic institutions are pivotal in the Digital Leaders Community of Practice. Collaborating with universities and research centres facilitates access to the latest research findings, theoretical frameworks, and pedagogical insights. Moreover, academic experts often contribute to the community through guest lectures, research projects, and collaborative initiatives, enriching the discourse on digital education.

Twitter - Share your School's Successes
Easy-to-read, informative and fun, the handbook primarily aims to help educators equip younger generations with media literacy skills, in turn enabling them to ask the right questions about content they engage with online, and critically analyse news and information they engage with on the service.
The digital classroom
The Handbook also contains tips for educators and parents who want to unlock the benefits of Twitter as a learning tool in the classroom or at home, offering a helpful blend of theory, lesson plans, and case studies.
Taking a holistic view of what it means to be able to be a good digital citizen, the handbook also contains sections which cover online safety, dealing with cyberbullying as an educator, and learning how to control your digital footprint. You can read it in more detail here.
