This is my experience working in LSC's first junior musical - and being on stage for the first time.
Working as a tech in the production of Little Shop of Horrors was fun enough. I enjoyed being social with people I had never talked to or met properly before. It left me feeling happy that I met everyone and sad that I wouldn’t see them again since most of the people in the production were seniors. When it was announced we were doing Annie Jr, I wanted to test out what being on stage was like. So, I auditioned for a small role and was able to secure the role of Dogcatcher, which I was super happy about. I was also in the ensemble, so I was on stage a few times. I really like the feeling I get from being on stage. It’s fun and it rids me of my social anxiety by a ton. I thought I’d be too nervous and mess up, but I didn’t. It just felt nice being on stage. But aside from that…
I met a ton of new people. The cast was wide-ranged and we even had a student from a different school corporation entirely. Everyone was so kind and problems were minimal. However, as it begins and goes on with excitement and friendship, it ends with people being upset because most of the students were at GMS and will likely get here when we graduate.
So, in summary, I will miss all of the little friends I have made and I will also miss being on stage for the time being. Until the new play is announced that is. While we go through months of hard work, it’s all worth it to see the final product, even if it may be frustrating halfway through, don’t ever give up.
