Applications are now open for the Youth Mental Health Academy (YMHA), a community-based career development program that prepares high school students for futures in mental health-related careers through paid training and mentorship.
Participating students will receive:
A stipend of up to $1,750 for completing the five-week summer academy
Mentorship and guidance throughout the 10-month program
College navigation support and community-building activities
Access to workshops, career fairs, and expert panels
Opportunities to network with professionals and like-minded peers
Please note: This year, YMHA will be offered in Los Angeles County only.
The program comes from a partnership between the Child Mind Institute and the state of California with the goal of inspiring the next generation of mental health leaders. We invite you to join an information session to learn how YMHA can benefit your students.
If you know students who would thrive in this program, please share our website, program flyer, or student testimonials and encourage them to apply.
The deadline to apply is February 28, 2026.
