What is the Reading Rumble?
The Reading Rumble is a reading competition for grades 7 & 8 students!
Teams are created in groups of 4-6. You can form your own teams, but if you don’t have enough people to make a team with friends, we can match you up with one!
The teams are responsible to divide up and read the twelve pre-selected titles (so on a team of six, each person will be responsible for reading two books).
Once the teams are formed, the students will have access to the books in the Library.
The paper books will be available to borrow from the Library, and eBooks and Audiobooks will be made available on Sora (the English eBook platform).
In the Fall, competitors will meet once a week in the Library to participate in various team-building and book-related activities.
After the December break, the teams will start meeting regularly with their Teacher-Coach to practice answering questions and working as a team.
After the March break, the round-robin tournament will start! All the teams will play against each other. They are asked questions, testing how thoroughly they’ve read and remembered each book.
Points will be added up after each Rumble. At the end of the tournament the two teams with the most points will compete against each other to decide who is the Reading Rumble Champion!
