Latest COVID Information

The current CDC Community Level at Berkeley is Low.

Face covers are voluntary in most indoor spaces; however, they are still required on Lab shuttles and when in Health Services, Building 26.

Masking and distancing outdoors are no longer required. Visitor certification of vaccination or proof of a negative COVID test are no longer required.

The Lab’s COVID website is covid.lbl.gov.

Instructions for Visitors

1. Perform a COVID-19 symptom self-check prior to each day’s visit to the Lab.

DO NOT VISIT AN LBNL SITE OR EVENT IF:

You have COVID-19 symptoms, or have tested positive for COVID-19. COVID-19 symptoms include:

- Fever (≥ 100 deg F*) or chills

- Cough

- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

- Fatigue

- Muscle or body aches

- Headache

- New loss of taste or smell

- Sore Throat

- Congestion or runny nose

- Nausea, vomiting or diarrhea

Isolate and do not attend the event if you have symptoms or learned of a positive test.

    • Contact your health care provider and/or employer for guidance.

    • Notify the workshop organizer(s) and be prepared to identify situations where you may have had close contact (<6 foot distance for more than 15 minutes in a 24 hour period) with others at the event.

You no longer need to contact Health Services or quarantine if you have been exposed to someone with COVID or who tested positive, as long as you are asymptomatic. You must follow CDC guidelines for exposure, which include wearing a mask for 10 full days when around others indoors and getting tested after the fifth day following the exposure.

If additional guidance is needed, follow CDC guidance on quarantine and isolation.

Face Covering

Indoor face covers are not required while Alameda County remains in low or medium per the CDC. You are encouraged to continue wearing a face covering indoors or outdoors if you prefer to do so, especially when meeting in large groups.

Face covers are still required when in Health Services, Building 26, and on Lab shuttles.

Masking outdoors, no matter the vaccination status or the distance between people is no longer required.
