We have a split lunchtime, so half the school is on lunch at any one time. All Sixth Form students are on late lunch.
Sixth Form students are expected to be in school punctually by 8.50am and to remain in school until the end of the school day at 3.30 pm (registering attendance is a legal requirement under Health & Safety regulations). Every sixth former has a number of periods during which they are not taught and it should be emphasised that these should normally be spent in Private Study in the Sixth Form Centre.
There may be some sessions when a sixth former is not required to be on site and this information will be given to the students at the start of term once timetables are confirmed.
Tutor Time/Enrichment
As well as the broader curriculum of A Level subjects, each Year 12 student will take part in a PSRE and an Enrichment Programme.
The PSRE programme covers many aspects of the wider education we offer the sixth formers such as health, relationships, careers, university, managing on a budget and so on.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays you will go to enrichment at 10.25am. You can learn more about that here.
The other days you will go to tutor time instead. You can learn more about that here.
Sixth formers are expected to contribute to the welfare of the school community such as working with form tutors in the vertical tutoring system where they can take on responsibilities ranging from mentoring some of the junior pupils to organising fundraising for charities.
Assemblies
Sometimes you will go to assembly rather than afternoon form. This may be an assembly with all of Year 12, or all of your house group, or multiple house groups together.
Sixth Form students who have Private Study on the afternoons of Year 12 or House assemblies are expected to stay in school for the afternoon.
Break and Lunch
6th Form Canteen
The Sixth Form Centre contains its own café, open daily from break-time and again at lunchtime until 1.35pm. A wide variety of food and drink is available which students can purchase using their id card or cash.
Students in the Sixth Form also have the privilege of using the shops opposite the school at morning break, and have access to the town at lunchtime.
Please note: Hot food purchased off site should not be brought back into the Centre.
