In partnership with leaders like you, the Work-Based Learning Program at LHS helps our students obtain real-world experiences while developing the necessary skills needed in the workplace to make informed college and career decisions.
The Internship in the Community Program is offered to students during their senior year.
Interns typically work 4 to 10 hours per week following the school schedule and school calendar.
Internships take place in the fall and spring semesters as well as during the summer.
Site supervisors interview students to ensure an excellent match to their sites before hosting and provide feedback to evaluate the intern's performance using the Massachusetts Work-Based Learning Plan.
Student interns are pre-qualified to meet academic, attendance, and behavioral standards.
Internships are credit-bearing during the school year. Per employer discretion/capacity, the internship may be unpaid, paid or a stipend may be given to the student upon completion.
The Work-Based Learning Team will serve as the liaison throughout the internship to ensure a positive experience.

Find future employees. Hosting an intern means you can access potential future, entry-level, full-time, part-time, or summer employees.
Give back to the community. Hiring interns not only helps students in your community get started; it enhances the local workforce as a whole.
Support students. Interns gain experience, develop skills, make connections, strengthen their resumes, learn about a field, and assess their interests and abilities.
Foster leadership skills in current employees. Mentoring and guiding others often motivates employees to hold themselves more accountable and become effective leaders.
