The Early College Program is a partnership between Lawrence Public Schools and two colleges in the area: Northern Essex Community College (NECC) and Merrimack College (MC).
The program provides eligible students with the benefit to take a hybrid of high school and college courses starting their junior year. This is an amazing occasion for students to experience life on a college campus and to earn free college credits (transferable to all Massachusetts state colleges) by high school graduation.
Students in the Northern Essex Program take two courses per semester and students in the Merrimack Program take one course per semester.
This program offers students the unique opportunity to complete up to a full year of college at Northern Essex or one semester of college at Merrimack free of charge.
Students engage in a rigorous curriculum that brings together student interests and high academic standards in the form of Pathways to Business, Public Administration, Health, and Tools and Technology. To best prepare students for both college and career, students have access to all campus resources and participate in hands-on career workshops and training through a variety of our community partners.
