Cuentos & Libros: Latinx Literature

Read Latinx Authors through Stanford Libraries

The Robert Crown Law Library and the Stanford Latinx Law Students Association invite you to celebrate and experience some of the incredible books in our collection written by Latinx authors. The books listed on this site are only a sampling of the Stanford Libraries' collection. If you would like additional reading recommendations, please reach out to reference@law.stanford.edu.

You are able to check out any book listed on this site! Loan periods and request processing time may vary depending on which campus library the book comes from. But regardless of whether a book is at Green, Law, or any of the other campus libraries, you can request the book through the form linked on this site and make an appointment to pick it up in front of the Crown building. Or, if you are unable to pick up material in person or would like to review a section of a publication for longer than the check out period, please request a scan of the section you are interested in. Keep in mind that scan requests are subject to copyright.

What is Hispanic Heritage Month?

Hispanic Heritage Month celebrates the cultures, contributions, and resilience of Latinx, Hispanic, and Latino-identified communities around the world.

More than 50 years ago, President Lyndon Johnson’s Proclamation 3869 launched a week-long celebration of the histories, cultures, and contributions of citizens of Hispanic origin to America’s national heritage.

Since then, the one-week event has grown into what is known by many as Hispanic Heritage Month -- a commemoration from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15 that is intrinsically linked to the independence anniversaries of several Latin American nations and uplifts the cultural legacy of a group deeply-rooted in rich traditions.

This celebration has become a vital opportunity to dispel ignorance, prejudice and fear through education about multiculturalism and the history of the countless contributions of Latinx communities.

What is the Stanford Latinx Law Students Association (SLLSA)?

The Stanford Latinx Law Students Association (SLLSA) is a home away from home for Latinx students at Stanford Law School. This school year, SLLSA is celebrating its 51st anniversary.

SLLSA is committed to creating and maintaining a proud Latinx community at Stanford Law School and sending highly qualified, dedicated and responsible Latinx lawyers into every legal arena.

SLLSA provides personal and academic support for its membership, including seminars on briefing cases, studying for exams, writing résumés and interviewing with potential employers. SLLSA also sponsors a variety of social and cultural events throughout the school year, including Semana Latina, an annual celebration of Latinx culture for Law School faculty, staff, students and their families.
